Provincial secretary for environment and alternate energy Shamsul Haq Memon on Monday said that under current annual development programme, five development schemes under the purview of environment and alternate energy department are examination and survey of arsenic contamination in underground water in Sindh, public awareness and environmental education in urban/rural Sindh, environment study on hospital waste management for one major government public sector hospital and one private hospital, hygienic groundwater management in Thar and drinking water quality assessment in Karachi, Hyderabad and Kotri.
While presiding over a meeting, Memon said that Advisor to the Sindh Chief Minister on Environment and Alternate Energy Noman Saigol would review all schemes and programmes for implementation and priority should be fixed to undertake schemes.
He said all schemes indicated in the ADP and allocation of funds for these schemes should be reviewed and the respective in-charges of the programmes should come up during the next meeting with concrete proposals for the implementation of the proposed schemes.
It was decided in the meeting that drafts of all the schemes would be prepared after due consultation with stakeholders and innovative approaches showing maximum benefits should be adopted.
Memon said that in all schemes there must be appropriate use of funds.
